Intersection of Perrine, Saginaw to Close as Concept 5 Pipe Upsizing Moves to Phase IV

July 12, 2023 – Perrine Road will be closed to traffic at Saginaw Road until further notice beginning Monday, July 17 as the Concept 5 Sewer Improvement Plan pipe upsizing project in this area enters Phase IV.
 
While construction is underway, Perrine Road will be closed to through traffic and all traffic attempting to access Perrine Road from Saginaw Road will be detoured west on Saginaw, north on Dublin Avenue, and east on W. Wackerly Street. The construction zone for pipe upsizing on Perrine will extend from Moorland Drive to Saginaw Road.
 
When completed, the sewer upsizing project in this area will increase the size of 8,000+ linear feet of sanitary sewer pipe along Perrine Road, Saginaw Road, Main Street, and W. Sugnet Road.
 
As this is an extensive project spanning multiple construction seasons, work will be completed in phases as outlined below:
 

  • Phase 1 (In progress; approaching completion):  Sugnet Road from W. Main Street to Valley Drive. Sugnet Road is closed to through traffic and local traffic will be maintained for the duration of construction in this phase.

  • Phase 2 (In progress): W. Main Street from Sugnet Road to Saginaw Road. Main Street will be closed to through traffic and local traffic will be maintained for the duration of construction in this phase.

  • Phase 3 (In progress): Saginaw Road from W. Main Street to Perrine Road. One lane of eastbound and westbound traffic will be maintained for the duration of construction in this phase.

  • Phase 4 (Begins July 17): Perrine Road from Saginaw Road to Moorland Drive. Perrine Road will be closed to through traffic and local traffic will be maintained for the duration of construction in this phase. 

The entire upsizing project is estimated to be completed in June 2024.

E. Ashman Street Reconstruction from Swede to Waldo Begins July 5, 2023

Beginning today, E. Ashman Street will undergo street reconstruction from Swede Avenue to Waldo Avenue that will close eastbound traffic until late October.

Ashman will remain open to through westbound traffic for the duration of construction; however, the roadway will be closed to eastbound through traffic. All eastbound traffic on Ashman will be detoured around the closure via Swede, Eastlawn Drive, and Waldo. Motorists are reminded to drive with caution when accessing a destination within the construction zone.

This project is expected to be completed in October 2023.

Lane, Road Closures Coming on Saginaw Road as Concept 5 Pipe Upsizing Moves to Phase III

Saginaw Road will be reduced to one lane each direction from Sturgeon Avenue to Dublin Avenue beginning Thursday, June 15 the Concept 5 Sewer Improvement Plan pipe upsizing project in this area enters Phase III.
 
Beginning Thursday, one lane of both eastbound and westbound traffic on Saginaw Road will be closed. One lane each direction will be maintained for through traffic, with both lanes shifted to utilize the south side of Saginaw Road.
 
On Friday, June 23 at 8 p.m., Saginaw Road will close to through traffic at the Main Street intersection. Traffic will be detoured around the closure via Dublin Avenue, Wackerly Street, and Sturgeon Avenue until approximately 12 p.m. on Saturday, June 24. Saginaw will then reopen through traffic
 
Work on Saginaw Road is anticipated to be completed in mid-July, weather permitting.

  • Phase 3 (Begins June 15): Saginaw Road from W. Main Street to Perrine Road. One lane of eastbound and westbound traffic will be maintained for the duration of construction in this phase. During sanitary sewer placement in the eastbound lanes, a complete road closure will be in effect for a short duration.

  • Phase 4: Perrine Road from Saginaw Road to Moorland Drive. Perrine Road will be closed to through traffic and local traffic will be maintained for the duration of construction in this phase.

 
Work on subsequent phases will not begin until substantial completion of the previous phase has occurred. The entire upsizing project is estimated to be completed in June 2024.

Patrick Road construction from Waldo Avenue to US-10 overpass to begin Monday, June 5

Beginning Monday, June 5, Patrick Road will undergo a street reconstruction from Waldo Avenue to the US-10 overpass (Midland city limits). As as result, eastbound Patrick will be closed to through traffic (one westbound lane will remain open). All eastbound traffic will be detoured using Waldo, E. Ashman Street, and Rockwell Drive. This project is estimated to be completed in late August.

Main Street to Close from Sugnet to Saginaw for Milling Work

June 1, 2023 – Main Street will be closed to through traffic from Sugnet Road to Saginaw Road on Friday, June 2 for road milling work related to the Concept 5 Sewer Improvement Plan.
 
Main Street will temporarily reopen to through traffic up to H.H. Dow High School on Saturday, June 3 to allow access for MHSAA District 2 Baseball playoffs. It will then close to through traffic from Sugnet to Saginaw until further notice on Monday, June 5. Traffic accessing locations within the road closure will be able to travel southbound on Main Street after June 5.
 
The intersection of Main and Sugnet is open for local (non-through) traffic only at this time.
 
As Sugnet Road is also closed from Main Street to Valley Drive, motorists should utilize Orchard Drive from Main Street or Saginaw Road to detour around the closure if not accessing a location within the construction zone.
 
When completed, the sewer upsizing project in this area will increase the size of 8,000+ linear feet of sanitary sewer pipe along Perrine Road, Saginaw Road, Main Street, and W. Sugnet Road.
 
As this is an extensive project spanning multiple construction seasons, work will be completed in phases as outlined below:
 

  • Phase 1 (In progress):  Sugnet Road from W. Main Steet to Valley Drive. Sugnet Road is closed to through traffic and local traffic will be maintained for the duration of construction in this phase.

  • Phase 2 (In progress): W. Main Street from Sugnet Road to Saginaw Road. Main Street will be closed to through traffic and local traffic will be maintained for the duration of construction in this phase.

  • Phase 3: Saginaw Road from W. Main Steet to Perrine Road. Westbound Saginaw Road will be closed and traffic detoured for the duration of construction in this phase. Eastbound traffic will be maintained for the majority of construction in this phase. During sanitary sewer placement in the eastbound lanes, a complete road closure will be in effect for a short duration.

  • Phase 4: Perrine Road from Saginaw Road to Moorland Drive. Perrine Road will be closed to through traffic and local traffic will be maintained for the duration of construction in this phase.

M-47 resurfacing through Freeland starts June 6

BAY CITY, Mich. - The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) will invest $983,000 to resurface just more than 2.5 miles of M-47 from Garfield Road to south of Powley Drive in Tittabawassee Township. Work consists of hot-mix asphalt overlay on all lanes and shoulders.
